Alejandro Rivas was born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela. He holds a master’s degree (2016) in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Oklahoma, a master’s degree (2014) in Reliability Engineering and a bachelor’s degree (2010) in Mechanical Engineering from the Simon Bolivar University in Caracas, Venezuela.
Alejandro is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Florida, a registered Professional Engineer in Venezuela, an ASHRAE certified Healthcare Facilities Design Professional, and a GBCI certified LEED AP BD+C.
Alejandro is a seasoned engineer with experience in managing projects and designing mechanical systems for the healthcare, institutional, laboratory & research, commercial, residential, and higher education markets.
Most of Alejandro's expertise relates to the design of healthcare facilities in the United States. This is one of his foundations to be so thorough and detail oriented in every HVAC project he works on, regardless of the market type. For the healthcare design practice, occupant safety and energy consumption are key factors. Being so, these design considerations are well-rooted in his design approach to provide every residential & commercial project with the highest of quality in engineering design.
Furthermore, Alejandro is involved in professional societies such as ASHRAE and ASPE. He is an ASHRAE Member, an ASPE Associate Member, and the ASHRAE Miami Chapter Chair for Student Activities and Social Media.
Alejandro has made multiple presentations and publications for ASHRAE, with one of them earning him the 2017 ASHRAE Technical Paper Award for his work on airflow measurement methods and accuracy for VAV Systems.
